There are many ways to solve climate change. I have a few ideas
Basically, keep going doing what we are doing. According to the latest data, its somewhat working(but kinda slowly idk). Anyways, things seem to be accelarating, so that's good. This would consist of "green" sources like solar panels, wind turbines, hydroelectric dams etc.. Problems: 1) The Sun does not shine at night. Why is this a problem? Batteries are EXTREMELY expensive to make(in terms of CO2 and money). 2)The wind stops. Why is this a problem? See problem 1.
Ok so basically we build a few houndred nuclear reactors all over the world and use the electic energy from them instead of idk burning coal or natural gas. This is expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Very expensive, but very worth it. Problems: 1) It's expensive. 2) Sometimes a disaster occurs which is REALLY bad(Chernobyl, Fukushima).
Ok this is the actual one which will get us out of this mess. So basically, do not buy anything except the absolute bare minimum you need. No luxuries. No fancy plant. No pocket knife. If you live in a city with public transport, no car. No bike, even. Too far? I agree. So does everyone else. This is why this one does not work. Individuals may agree do participate but as a society there will not be enough participants(anything other than everyone is too little) to make a difference. Also, millions of jobs will be lost as people will stop buying so companies will stop making money so they will go bankrupt so the workers will go unemployed. But do not worry, degrowthers have thought about this. But that is not the subject of this blog post. Maybe next time?
So yeah uhhh we are in fact not going extinct probably. But there are better ways to survive probably. But that will reduce corporate profits, so that's not happening.
